About Bill Ferguson
Welcome to my website, I hope you find the information on this website helpful and even if we never meet that you might be encouraged to give osteopathy a try. The question I get asked most by patients is "how long have you been doing this work?" what they really seem to want is a mini-biography, so here goes: My osteopathic career in Kent began in 1989 when I resigned from government employment with the Ministry of Agriculture (now DEFRA) where I worked as a Chemist. I was (and still am) a Chartered Chemist, but once I got interested in how bodies worked, how they sometimes didn't work, and how they could be fixed, my life changed. Before I left the Ministry of Agriculture I trained at the Northern Institute of Massage in how to treat the soft tissues of the body with massage and manipulation. Next I studied with the Northern Counties School of Osteopathy graduating as an Osteopath in 1991. Since then my postgraduate studies have included Visceral Osteopathy, Cranial Osteopathy and Acupuncture. I have always been intrigued by how the mind affects the body and this led me to study hypnotherapy, NLP therapy and somato-emotional release. Although I am qualified to practise these skills the majority of my treatments these days use Osteopathy or Acupuncture, singly or in combination. Whether you need sustained elbow pressure on a spasmed back muscle or the "light as a breeze" contact of cranial osteopathy, or something in between, I believe that osteopathy can give you the freedom to enjoy life again.
